HEALTH & WELLBEING ACTIVITIES

MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS ARE OUR WELLBEING DAYS

The day is planned so you can come to a morning activity and stay for a soup lunch, or come for lunch and stay for an afternoon activity. Or just drop in for an activity or lunch depending on your available time.

There is no need to book these sessions, but do text Ruth the day before if you need a lift to the hub: 07908 993456.

Mondays

MUSIC & MOVEMENT WITH SUSANA

11am-12.30pm

Group details:

Music & Movement is

  • the practice of conscious and free dance which helps people to be healthier, less stressed and more aware of themselves.
  • a practice which helps to reduce stress and anxiety, facilitate rest, increase the sense of well-being, promote concentration, relaxation and calm.
  • a soft, powerful and fun activity that helps to be healthier through several exercises such as spontaneous and creative movements, free dance, breathing or stretching.

No previous experience is required – all levels of physical ability are welcome.

Susana Garcia is a Dance Movement Therapist, Gestalt Psychotherapist, Body Psychothearpist and Group Facilitator.

Chair yoga

CHAIR YOGA WITH NICOLA

1.30-2.30pm

Group details:

Postures performed while seated and/or with the aid of a chair. These sessions are suitable for all abilities and will help improve mental health, mood and mobility. Nicola has many years’ experience teaching both mat and chair yoga in the workplace and in the community.

Singing with Rachel

SINGING WITH RACHEL

3.30-4.30pm

Group details:

Improve your breathing, sing for health and improve your mental wellbeing. Rachel Hynes is a Welsh Soprano, Vocal Animateur and Singing for Health Practitioner, and a passionate advocate for helping others through the power of music and singing. Through breath, body and voice she strives to help people find their own voice.

Wednesdays

Tai Chi

TAI CHI WITH JAN

11.30am-12.30pm

Group details:

The Tai Chi sessions involve standing exercises to improve mobility, balance, flexibility and relaxation. Including warms-ups, Qi Gong exercises and Tai Chi related movements, the exercises are suitable for all ages from 16 and above, and for all levels of fitness and physical health.

These gentle and flowing exercises not only improve general health and well-being but also encourage calmness and mental relaxation.

The sessions will help develop physical and mental health using movement and mindfulness. Jan Kauskas has been practicing and teaching Tai Chi in Glasgow for many years.

Understand the background to stress and recognise the effects of stress. How you can manage stress and learn some coping techniques.

Led by Laura of Sew Confident. Please note this session will last for 2 ½ hours.

CAPACITAR AND SUPPORTING YOURSELF

Identifying signs and ways to help and change. Getting back on track and developing self-awareness.

HEART MATH

HeartMath will help you to transform your stress into resilience. HeartMath is a system of simple and powerful self-regulation techniques which are easy to learn and designed to be used “in the moment”, whatever the situation, meaning that you can bring your best self to every part of your life.

CAPACITAR AND ASSERTIVENESS & CONFIDENCE BUILDING

This session will explore how to be assertive and able to say ‘No’ positively. It will include how to improve communication skills, find out how to deal effectively with disagreement and conflict and being able to deal with and survive aggressive behaviour.

LAUGHTER THERAPY LED BY SIOBHAN

27th Mar

Laughter therapy, also known as therapeutic humour, helps you work through and come to terms with difficult emotions or challenges. With roots in positive psychology, it’s now a growing field in the mental health space. Laughter likes the mind and body – it actually reduces the levels of stress hormones, while simultaneously bringing pleasure and positive experience.

Mon & Wed 12.30-1.30pm

Soup lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays in between the wellbeing activites. While this is free, we would appreciate any donations you can make.
